The Weeds of Doubt

Image
After scattering vegetable seeds in my raised garden, I spent many weeks tending to it. I watered, I weeded, and I watched as the seeds sprouted and grew. But, the more my vegetable plants grew, the more my life became busy with various other demands (the kids, the rest of my yard, my chickens, etc...). Over the past month, I've somewhat helplessly watched as crabgrass, clover, violets, and wild strawberries crept into my raised vegetable garden beds.      At first, I was able to keep on top of the weed growth. But, because of my busy-ness, my garden started to look neglected with weeds. As I tried to vainly harvest my leaf lettuce and kale this morning, I realized that I was picking more grass and weed-leaves than veggies. The weeds were choking my veggies! So after harvesting what I could (which was still a very good amount), I got down on my knees - bathrobe and all, and proceeded to spend the next hour pulling up each and every weed, starting with...

What Kind of Tree Are You?

Image
It takes a tree decades to grow tall and flourish, and only a few hours to bring it down in destruction. The life a tree lives and the kind of tree, determines its purpose and usefulness.  If a tree grows too close to a building, it is a potential threat during storms. If it is a weak soft-wood tree, it can die easily. If it doesn't have good soil nutrients and is a fruit tree, it'll bear bad fruit, if any at all. If the tree is exposed to parasites and pestilences, it can be overcome by blight and malnourishment. However, if the tree grows in the right location, with the right nutrients, and w hen someone takes the time to prune and fertilize it,  it  is good, healthy, and produces good fruit....That tree is loved and admired.  So too is it with mankind. We spend our entire lives growing, some cared for and beautiful - others neglected, diseased, and ugly. But in a split second, we are destroyed through death. We all must stand before the Judgment Throne and see wha...

Choose Your Path

Image
A wide interstate highway is smooth and appealing. It has everything you could ever want. This highway appears safe and many are encouraging you to take it. The world loves those high speed straightaways. Preachers are even preaching that there's nothing wrong with an interstate, that all roads lead to a really good destination - so enjoy the journey, and that God just wants us to drive happy. On the wide highway, each traveler is distracted with looking at the billboards, the restaurants, the cities, the shopping malls.... The highway is crowded, a huge traffic jam, but no one notices. Instead, they make room for more. However, no one notices or cares where it is headed, they ignore those destination signs that state it inevitably leads to only one destination: Hell. Some signs say within one mile for some of the travelers, other travelers see hundreds of miles left. But, it is all the same direction, the same destination. To the side is a majestic, yet daunting mountain, and on t...

Pride, vanity, selfishness, greed, idolatry, bitterness, hatred, spite, envy, resentment..... All of these bring you away from the Lord and serve only one purpose: to destroy your heart and soul.      Is there someone in your life that all you can think about is how much they've wronged you? Is there something about yourself that you are quick to boast about to anyone who'll listen? Do you seek and think about the next big thing you can buy, if you can buy the most, just buy, buy, buy? Are you having trouble giving up what you know is wrong? Do you hold grudges easily, or are offended easily? Do you think that you are better, can do better, are the best at anything? Is there an object, person, activity, substance that you literally think about most, if not all of the time? Is forgiveness difficult for you, so you justify your lack of? When things happen, are your first thoughts "What about me!? I, I, I...."     It is time that each of u...

Do Not Cause The Little Ones To Stumble

Image
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. - Proverbs 22:6 But whoever causes one of these  little   ones  who believe in Me  to   stumble , it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea.  - Mark 9:42      When you look at the entertainment we allow our children to watch, read, and listen to, we find ourselves in a world saturated with the magical, the fantastical, the superhuman, and the beastly. From Disney to Nickelodeon to PBS Kids, just about every show involves one or more of the above. And if it doesn't involve any of those things, there's a good chance that it teaches immoral perspectives (such as homosexuality) or things contrary to the Word of God (such as idolatry).      A child is impressionable, even up throughout their teenage years. Science proves it, psychology proves it, even the Bible says it (Proverbs 22:6) ....

ANNOUNCEMENT

Image
Blogspot has notified all bloggers that their e-mail subscription service will no longer be available on blogs starting July 2021. If you are subscribed to this blog and receive e-mail notifications when new posts are published, this will end in July.  They are not offering any alternatives, but are rather encouraging the blog authors to send out individual e-mail links to each subscriber . As you can imagine, this is neither convenient nor practical - especially for those blog authors boasting thousands upon tens of thousands + subscribers. I could switch to Word Press or other similar platforms, but I find Blogspot to be free (which for me is a must) and easier formatting. Plus, I really, honestly, don't want to transfer everything. That would take forever.  Being that this is beyond my control..... If you desire to be notified of new blog postings, please bookmark this page on your browser and visit weekly to check for new uploads. However, the easiest  way to keep up ...
